Welcome to Rachel’s Treehouse
A new home for my stories with extra room for connection
You are here!
Your presence is a gift.
Welcome to Rachel’s Treehouse. You may have followed me over from my Hands Free Mama blog or the Hands Free Revolution on social media. My offerings here on Substack will consist of everything you’ve come to love about my writing over the years but with more freedom and flexibility to share interests and experiences I don’t feel comfortable sharing with the whole world. I’ll also be experimenting with audio affirmations, recipe ideas, music playlists, and more.
If you’re brand-new, welcome! I’m so glad you are here. Rachel’s Treehouse is all about connection. Connection to ourselves. Connection to each other. Connection to nature. Connection to possibility. Together, we'll create space and intentional practices to nourish the roots of what matters most.
Oftentimes, it’s hard to remember what matters most.
When the outside world constantly dictates what we focus on, invest in, prioritize, consume, think, feel and believe… well, it can feel pretty disheartening and overwhelming.
Oftentimes, it’s hard to slow down and catch our breath.
That is what I am offering here.
As a child, I often climbed to the top of the small Maple tree in my backyard. It was the first place I remember feeling true peace.
There, I could hear the guidance of my heart, free from outside influences.
There, I could see for miles, excited by all there was yet to learn and experience.
There, I could be myself. My body was good. My voice was important. My ideas were valuable. My dreams were attainable.
Now here I am, a middle-aged adult raising baby adults, supporting aging parents, yearning to stay relevant as an author in a time of tech saturation and information overload. Needless to say, I find myself longing for the peace of the treetop.
The mission of this newsletter is to have a direct connection to fellow humans who want to reclaim their sense of wonder, solace, curiosity, presence, and joy. Rachel’s Treehouse prioritizes human connection, and it simply wouldn’t be the same without you.
Whether you’re a paid or free subscriber, please know how much I appreciate your presence here. When I first started blogging in 2010, my favorite part about public writing was the comments and messages I received from my readers. This is still my favorite part. You are still my favorite part.
What do you say we have a treehouse-warming party?! In the comments, share where you’re from, what’s on your list of Things that Matter Most, or anything else on your heart.
My hand in yours,
Rachel

What a tough year it has been! My son was diagnosed with a very rare sarcoma. He was lucky in a sense that it was discovered early, but it’s and aggressive cancer that often comes back. Ten years of regularly scheduled MRI/CT scans will hopefully never find cancer again. What matters most? Living in the moment.
What a relief to find a smaller shared space! I, too, am pulling away from regular visits to social media but often drawn back by those I still want to be influenced by ~ and you're on the top of my list, Rachel. I'm looking forward to what unfolds here...the gentle "me too" and courage to listen to my heart. To riff on your phrase "my hand in yours," Rachel, this feels like it can be all of us reaching a hand out to each other 💜
